Casing Jacks for the British Army

The Army well drillers, 521 Specialist Troop Royal Engineers, have been testing the first of their new 80 tonne hydraulic jacks, which we completed just before the first coronavirus lockdown. Here the jacks are being used to retrieve some 12 ¾” (324mm) overburden casing that has been stuck in the ground for a long time.

The jacks themselves are run off the hydraulic circuit of the unit’s Dando Watertec 12.8s, the clamp controls being used to raise or lower the jack rams. The jacks can be supplied with slips to suit a wide range of casing sizes, up to a maximum of 13 11/32” (339.7mm). Casing jacks for larger diameter casing along with smaller, 40 tonne capacity, hydraulic jacks are also available.
